I am a researcher and software developer of natural language processing, information retrieval, and machine learning technologies, with a special interest in automatic design, construction, and optimization of arbitrary complex intelligent information systems such as question answering systems and decision support systems.

I joined Google Research in 2017. I obtained my Ph.D. degree from Carnegie Mellon University in 2017, under the supervision of Prof. Eric Nyberg. I obtained M.S. and B.E. degrees from Tsinghua University, China, in 2011 and 2009 respectively, supervised by Prof. Jie Tang and Prof. Juanzi Li. Previously, I had internships with Dr. Chris Burges at Microsoft Research in 2016, Dr. Ying Li and Dr. James Cai at Roche Translational & Clinical Research Center in 2013, and Dr. Keke Cai and Dr. Zhong Su at IBM Research - China between 2010 and 2011. I am also a co-founder of Cognistx LLC (formerly, Inphome LLC).
